sighborg or anyone else from expressions....
you guys know Mark Rosenberg? Was/is a teacher there.
Man I wish I knew some people in the arts. I'm a graphic artist. Pretty much all for print but I've been considering getting into more web stuff or animation.
Would be nice to know some folks in the arts cause I don't and it sucks.
I get lazy....been thinking of getting a new job but way to much junk going on right now....
good luck with the job search gunslinger. You try EA/sony? they're local.

Crazy, a buddy of mine graduated from expression's a year or 2 ago ... do you know Jordan? I don't know how big classes or anything.
How tough is it finding a job out of expressions?
I used to be in the game industry (a few internships) on the programming side ... now I am in the valley working on non-game (boring) stuff.

No, i dont know jordan - i only graduated 4 or 5 months ago, and the whole thing is only 14 months long. Expressions is really good for getting you a job, as they have a shark of a placement director. I had job offers before i graduated though, so i didnt have to deal with our placement department too much, but they still helped out immensely.
What classes does mark teach?

You could post a poll in the Random Thoughts forum, with links to 3-D web pages for those who are interested in checking out yours or someone else's work. If posting attachments, please try to compress the JPEGs to a reasonable size since they take up a lot of space on i-Club's server.

OT question for all of you guys. so before you guys went to these schools, were you artistic?
I've been wanting to get into this as a hobby to get my daughter exposed to things like this.
Or did you have an interest in the field, went to school and they taught you how to do things like this?

I was always drawing and making stuff and playing music and whatnot - and had also always wanted to make games and 3d stuff, cause it seemed like a cool way to make things that are physically impossible, like robots and whatnot.
I went to this school pretty much just to learn the toolset, not to learn art anymore than i already had at Jr. college. Of course i ended up learning alot more - but i would say that 3d requires not only artistic ability, or an eye - but also a strong technical ability as well. 3d packages are'nt really hard to use, its just that there is so much crap to remember it makes it almost laughable.

This is a free version of maya, it should include some simple tutorials. Have fun~!

I did not know how to draw when I went to school. I started off with drafting and cad when I got interested. I can't say it has worked for me so far since I have no job in the business yet.
You people in the business, any suggestions?

Alot of places really want to see that you have a grasp on fine art. However, you can also model your reel in a really specific way - a friend of mine got hired at lucasArts because he built an amazing level in maya, then just imported it into the unreal 2004 engine, and that was most of his reel. Just the fact that he knew the unreal engine was a good selling point. SO, if you can't nail an art, at least back it up with some hardcore/desirable technical know-how.
