Well, you gotta know that's happening right? I would assume cars marketed towards aggressive drivers, with enormous tuning potential are warranty landmines for manufacturers.

EDIT: I just saw saw the thread (shame on me) and this is indeed atrocious if it's true! I'm glad there are way too many WRXs out there for Subaru to start monitoring

Well, with SOA's rep on warranty claims, you have to wonder if they might be following STis......

it makes you wonder if dodge, chevy and honda/acura and the like would all do the same for vipers, 'vettes, NSX's and the like...

high performance cars should be strong enough to stand up to high performance driving, period, end of story. every motorcycle that i've owned has been more than up to racetrack duty, with ZERO issues. i ran my R6 on upwards of 30 track days, with no problems. this is silly.

Well in Sub/Mitsu's defense...RWD cars and bikes put a fraction of the stress on the tranny that our cars do.

Viper = spin
R6 = wheelie

WRX = tranny confetti

Think about this though... you have about 14000 people on i-club and twice that many on Nasioc... then add the people on the Mitsu boards etc. take into consideration that 70% of us actually drive 'modded' cars. that's thousands of cars that these companies have to account for that are being somewhat abused.

Vette's,Viper's, Nsx's and such don't really have this problem because the driver's can afford to fix them.

I will jump in on this..

See any car manufacturer will have issues everytime a performance car gets built period. Owning a shop makes you smile as cars break but lets face it.

Nothing can withstand the abuse we give our cars. Even drag cars, road racing cars, rally cars and all vehicles in general, they all have limits that no one really knows when it will break.

If you dont want it to break then why did you buy it in the first place ..LOL... park it like some folks do and count all the dings and scratches while your at it. LOL Hell at least it is not a Dodge SRT .... shocks break on spring upgrades I was told...

no harm intended just annoyed by the fact that some people complain about the manufacturers build standards and when they accuse you of abusing the vehicle in which you really did, they cry like a baby and get bent. I play and pay too just like the rest LOL...

cheers

I used to have to pull teeth to get any kind of warantee work done on my GSX when it was under warantee

stuff like my power window on the driver side busted and they said they wanted to void the warantee due to the work I had done to it. I asked the service manager to please point out what part of my modificaions directly affected the window.

had to do this a few times on the window and the sunroof as well
