Hey Bill... Nice purchase man. Modify the engine if you feel like you need more horsepower, but in my opinion you should leave the suspension alone.

When I first started riding, all of the guys told me to leave the bikes suspension alone. Adapt yourself to the bike first and learn to ride it. Once you get a good feel for the suspension and realize where the weak points are/crap you don't like... then switch up some parts and make the bike adapt to you.

It worked better like that for me anyway... Be careful out there. Tons of squids up on Skyline. Oh yeah... go to http://thesundayride.com/

It's as close as you can get to the Isle of Mann in the Bay Area. There's even a guy out there who does race Isle of Mann every year for Yamaha. Awesome roads, awesome riders, awesome personalities.
