A million-dollar flea market find
Nice, you never know what you can find in other people's junk.
A long time ago my stepmom saw a rock labeled "Fools Gold and Quartz" at the flea market for like 12 bucks, about the size of a football, and for whatever reason she could tell it was not the same look as Pyrite aka Fools Gold, and she also knew that real gold is formed and found in the earth and in mines attached to veins of quartz within the rock. She decided to buy it, and my dad had equipment at his work that can test metals, and sure enough this rock was quartz mixed with real gold all throughout, worth about $20,000 at the time.

I have a buddy that repairs/collects/trades/buys old native American stuff. Well one day he stops at this garage sale. he spots this painting, its not great, but the signature looks kind of familiar so he buys it... for $.50.
Low and behold its by some famous American painter from the 1800's, and sells at souterbe's(sp) for $160,000
