Cool Me and my STI are totally famous now

Which reminds me, Ultimate Street Car will be doing it's 1st event at Laguna Seca in March. It's for true street cars, they must be registered and on street tires. There's an AWD class ya'll should come out

USCA – Ultimate Street Car Association

It's run by the same people who run Chump Car.

That is great info! I have an event there tomorrow and I was worried about my exhaust being over the limit.

Not that I would generally recommend doing business with them, but if you dig into the site, there is a discount code for Andy's Autosport hidden in there.

It really depends on a lot of things. I was pretty surprised that the Z06 was okay as one I used to drive was not, only had an X-pipe in the stock exhaust and I would always have to short shift or be prepared for a black flag.

Over the years, people have developed "Laguna pipes" which can sometimes be something attached to simply aim the exhaust to the driver's side and away from the sound booth. The chicane is a neat idea, however for example in the Z06 it would have been a lot easier to maintain speed to just pull throttle and cruise around the corner than to slow down and have to try to accelerate quietly.

Is there anyone that does testing like that? I would really like to see how mine comes in.

I intentionally came through the corner as loudly as I could with the cutout wide open. I think it was 87db.
The AMX was pulling around 100db, but when they drove "around" the sound limit got down to 92.
The Chicane is because they realized that people trying to compete wouldn't be willing to "give up" the corner.

Intake noise can make a big deal too. My friend Mary's Camaro will pass sound with a closed element air cleaner, but not with an open element
