I am now totally disappointed...

Sorry, I know this isn't a mental therapist forum, but this isn't just a rant, its also a warning.

A little bit of background for this admittedly heart breaker of a story.
Last week my aunt had called me to tell me about a position for a job on craigslist (later you'll see that the position was me bending over...). The ad reads something along the lines of "Entry level position, no experience needed, good pay".

Okay, sounds cool right? I call these guys up and the HR answers saying that
they would be interview me the next weekday with a company called A&A. I setup an interview time and the next tuesday I walk in and fill out an application. I was a bit weary of joining something I'd never heard of but I thought, "Hey, might as well try it, might be legit..." after filling out my application I'm escorted to an interviewing room. The interviewer is this pretty cute chick in her 20's who is also an alumni of my highschool. She saw my application and said she'd put in a good word. Now, mind you I have no real job experience other than volunteer work at an elementary school.

I go home, they call me and say I got the job! You cannot imagine how much joy that brought me. I was running around the place, jumping up and down, the works. This was my first real job with a base salary of $2000/2 weeks. Praise is heard on my phone as aunts and cousins congratulate me. Cool, training starts Thursday (today).

Come Thursday I'm all G'd up, ready to learn some new skills for building experience and maybe a career. I walk into the room and there were maybe 20-25 of us sitting in there, looking up to that $2k paycheck. We go through the ins and the outs of the company, procedures and payment method. The DPS mentions that we were to visit 60 customers in one month (which is only half 'cause we're still new) and if not, we dont get payed...

Training session ends and I walk out to the scoob. I see the look on the faces of my future co-workers; half of them excited to see so many zeros to the right of a number, the other half truly suspicious of the company. I visit my cousin's house, logon to the intrawebz and search up the suspicious company "scott and fetzer".

Turns out there is a scam going on behind Kirby vacuums, don't believe me? well read on...

I read in an article that several people have applied for this job and have been trained only to find empty promises. They describe their training day- DPS describes the riches we would attain through working with Kirby sales. But then they describe a darker side. 14 hour work days (initially promised 8), dangerous transportation getting to customers, and they say that regardless of achieving that quota of customers (60 appointments), their salary was greatly decreased to a mere 20% of that (I'm being generous here...).

This is such a disappointment and heartache. I find a job that will allow me to help out the parents with the scoob and help me get through college and I'm later dumbfounded.

Now I know you're thinking, "Pactin you idiot, didn't $1000/week sound fishy in the first place?" Honestly it did, but I was blinded by my greed, biased by my family and desperate for an income. I am in no way saying that Kirby vacuums suck (well, technically they do, they're pretty strong really...) but the way they get their employees is just wrong.

Sorry its a bit of a rant, but its also a warning. Although the economy seems rough, please don't fall for any craigslist scams. If it sounds too good to be true, I guarantee you it probably is 99.99999999999999999% of the time. Do your research and don't be swayed by the economy's treatment upon you. In fact, whenever somebody tells you Kirby sales people don't make much (if any at all) money, they're speaking truth.

cliffnotes:
-I look for a job
-I train for this job
-I research this job
-I find out their methods of profit are illegitimate
-I feel like **** now

blows dude... I think out of all of the jobs I have had (I think I am up to 6 now) only one of them was a result from Craigslist and after 6 months I got the boot because the company moved to SoCal...

Dang, must feel like being outsourced? Well at least it was a job that had respect for its employees right?

Actually, this almost happened twice today, as my cousin was so envious of 'my job' that he searched up other craigslist miracles. He stumbled upon a secret shopper job, but I showed him it waas anothe scam. The kinds like from Nigeria with a fake check bouncing and you losing thousands of dollars.

I've met employees of a Kirby distributor. Woah... they are generally not the smartest and that is being generous. I heard a lot about the company and it's a total joke. Slave labor almost. The vans they give the kids to drive around in are very scary as well.

Man Pactin that sucks. But keep plugging away. You WILL get a job and I am sure you'll look back at this situation/experience and simply laugh.

You think down, you look down, and ultimatly you'll be down.

Remember, positivity is the trick....Harness in the good energy, block out the bad.

Harness.
Energy.
Block.
Bad.

It's like a carousel. You put the quarter in, you get on the horse, it goes up and down, and around.

Circular, circle.

Feel it.

Go with the flow.
