*pulls out the laminated card with speaker specs/prices*

AMEN TO THAT. Yea I dont know of many Kirby sales people who make it but thats the outside sales world. Funny to think thats actually the way things were done back in the day. I know right now is not a good time but slinging cars has always gotten me through my bouts of unemployment. Most of the time dealerships will pick up anyone all you need is a vehicle sales persons licence and a clean driving record. Not an easy job though and you are working with people "no offense to anyone on here who sells cars" but they are for the most part one step above carnival workers. "no offense to any carnival workers who may be offended" But good luck. You sound like you may be a little younger so there is a ton of unskilled labor available give you time to go to school and put some coin in your pocket. As mentioned above if you do choose to serve the country do it anywhere but the army....Make the same money in the airforce and live all cushy cushy.
lol yea man i met someone at college last few weeks and they tried to recruit me to their company. i did a little research and found out they were running a pyramid scam. so i was like hell no i not lookin for a job right now lol.
yea always do research on the company b4 u make any major steps. sorry this happened to u man, but its a lesson learned right? least you came out with something out of it. just take it as experience for finding future jobs. the right job will come. keep on searcing!

I was looking through CL one time and some job posting are total scams. Multiple threads with the same exact saying: 2000/ month.

hah.. when you started your story I thought.. sounds like Kirby or one of those magazine subscription scams.
Almost makes me feel bad for the poor chumps who sign up. But then there was the last guy who somehow convinced my wife to let him in the door to try to sell her a $5000 vacuum...
It ended with her getting a little scared by his high pressure tactics and basic refusal to leave/take no for an answer and she called me, I told her to call the Police and I headed home to throw his *** out. (I'm about 5 minutes from home at work). By the time I got there he was gone, but he left so fast he forgot his little mini hand-vac. He never came back for it.

Kirby salespeople are so damn persistent but they're clever. The company puts out job offers to kids who come straight out of high school. There's another company called Vector Marketing that does almost the same thing except they sell knives. I wonder if both of these companies are owned by some parent company.
