Toy Shop on Geary Blvd is just a general mechanic shop for Toyotas (hence the name Toy Shop). They don't specialize in anything other than Toyotas, although I'm sure they do work on other cars. They aren't a performance shop by any means, although you never specifically asked for one. My mom uses them all the time for anything wrong with her Avalon. She has no complaints about them, other than the fact that they are busy all the time.

If you're just looking for general Subaru maintenance service, your best bet is just going to the dealership in Colma.

I am sure Toy Shop guys are knowledgeable folk (looking through their reviews), but there is a difference between general wrenching on more common platforms and something more complicated. Unless it is something really basic, why take a chance with the choices around? But I can be totally wrong of course

I understand you are in SF so probably have the $$ to spend in a shop that has to mark up thier stuff to pay rent in SF. You also mentioned tuning service, and I know youre not gonna find that in the city. All above mentioned shops are great.
