I have a couple months off between my spring quarter ending and summer session starting. I want to do something productive with the time I have, so I'm looking for community service suggestions. I'm open to anything, but want to hear about particular good experiences that members here have had. Also it would also be great if I could use some of the unique skills I have such as fluency in Spanish, work experience as a bicycle mechanic, competence in book keeping. I'm located in the peninsula - local opportunities are a plus.

Hopefully some of you will have some good suggestions.

habitat for humanity. get to "play" with jackhammers and build stuff. doesn't appeal to everyone, but i love the sense of accomplishment.
