Looking for a new router

So I've had a surfboard 6580 modem/router combo for the past year and I'm fed up with it's issues. I'm planning on getting a separate modem and router and looking for some suggestions for a modem. I just want something that works. My cell phone won't stay connected and my internet randomly stops from time to time. I'm not on a super fast data plan and don't see myself upgrading to it any time soon. I just want a setup that is consistent and doesn't constantly drop the signal.

Any suggestions?

anything that supports dd-wrt. I personally have a Asus R-N13U. No issues with it.

I've been using a d link dir 655, have 3 of them at 3 different locations. TBH I've only had problems with a handful of routers, notably the early MIMO and draft N routers,

the motorola modems are pretty decent, get something with docsis 3.0

netgear is the only brand i avoid, but thats just personal experience, routers and wireless dongles from netgear seem to crap out on me really fast, that and bad drivers.

Been using DD-WRT software on a Linksys WRT54G2 for 6 years with 0 issues. As stable as can be.

But recently upgraded to a Linksys E4200 V1. Flashed with DD-WRT again and has been running perfectly since day one.
