I'm responsible for at least one false alarm last year

The fine (of the end user, not the alarm company) makes
much more sense than not responding at all to alarms. I guess Fremont PD
is busy pulling over kids with lowered Novas.

I still hold that if they break in they get what's comin', be it my somewhat overpowered airsoft gun (500fps) or something from the gun vault.... Whichever is needed.
