The TSA is hiring
Transportation Security Manager - Bomb Appraisal Officer


Applicants must have one year of specialized experience equivalent to the SV-G Pay Band or the GS-11 grade level successfully performing as a Bomb Appraisal Officer (BAO), bomb technician, or in a similar position which includes such activities as: responding to alarms involving possible explosives, IED components, or actual IEDs; assessing the interrelationship between initiators, power supplies, switches, and chemicals to determine if device is an improvised explosive, commercial explosive, or mixed; and assisting with bomb program management responsibilities such as participating as a team member on a bomb squad to include ensuring program requirements were followed, making recommendations on procedures or helping implement processes under the direction of a program manager.

I'm certain with the number of bomb disposal technicians coming back from Iraq and Afghanistan, they'll have a line of applicants out the door, and down the block.

It's one of those jobs that sends you all around the country. I had a former co-worker whose dad did that and he was always in random places.

For you Ray, I'll try to get ahold of a nutjob that I swore I'd never talk to again. The one who's dad does this. Like I said though, it takes him all around the country for months at a time.

EDIT: for some reason I thought this was ordinance clearing, rather than bomb appraisal. I'd suggest contacting the TSA office posting the ad and ask what kind of training they look for.
