Looking for good thai food in the Bay Area.
สวัสดีครับ (Sawatdee Khrup or hello) After my recent visit to thailand I have been looking to find some decect relaively authentic thai food. I've found a few places around here but all seem to be viet folks trying to do thai food, and it doesn't work well. The food is bland, mild, and just not very appealing. The biggest thing I'm looking for is a good Tom Yam Goon. It's sort of a lemongrass seafood soup that should be hotter than hades(I love heat, if I'm not sweating it's not hot enough), but has a very distint lemongrass overtone. I'm also looking for some good chili crab, it's a stir fried crab with some sort of spicey red stuff on it. Tastes so good, and is supposed to be wonderfully hot, the only way to eat it is with your hands.
If anyone can help this farang(******) find his way to some goood grub I'd appreciate it. Price isn't an issue, nor is cleanliness. Most of the food I ate overseas was from local shops or hawker stands so I'm not picky, I just need something that actually tastes good. I simply cannot wait another two months to have some good food.
ขอบคุณครับ (Khaawp koon khrup or Thank you)(boy is it a pain to figure out thai letters on a US keyboard)
(edited for my usual lack of a spell checker

krungthai - two locations in san jose on winchester and one in mountain view in the shopping mall on san antonio and el camino. Once I started going there, other thai places are so-so. kinaree in fremont on mission and stevenson is an offshoot of krungthai and is quite good too.
barn thai.. its in a strip mall down the street from the AMD campus.
good stuff and they have the lemongrass soup.. I order it everytime im there..
Sorry that is in sunnyvale.
take lawrence epressway west from 101 and turn right at the first light
turn right again at the AMD campus and drive down about 1/2 a mile to a strip mall on the right.
From the outside Barn Thai looks like a little hole in the wall.

Thanks everyone. I'll have to check a few of the places out.
On a side note, the Banana Leaf in the mall on the other side of 237 from Ranch99(always forget what it's called) is pretty good Malay food. No where near as spicey as the real deal, but taste wise it was pretty good, well except for their weak version of teh tarik(pulled tea) which sucked donkey pole. The roti telur was pretty spot on(although again the curry sauce was a tad on the weak side), and their malay red curry was prett darn close. Although $45 for two people for lunch is a tad steep, it was still good.

Blue Mango - 4996 Stevens Creek Blvd. Most of their food has a level of spiciness you choose. 1-10 (10, being the hottest, but they have a 15 which is thai spicy). I tried 5 and that was pretty damn hot so I can't even imagine 15 lol. The place is kinda small, but the food owns.
