yeah, get the wrench and a 19mm deep socket and youre good to go. i actually use it for most stuff, since almost everything is either ~15, 35, or 50 ft/lbs. for ten bux you really cant go wrong. also get a 1/2"-drive socket set for ten bux at HF. the breaker bars they sell are also 1/2"-drive so it works out well. then get an adapter set and you essentially have two sets of sockets for ~$25 (thats if you already have a 3/8"-drive set, like everyone should). best deal in town!

I just ordered myself a torque wrench. Thanks!

if that thing is accurate, you sure as hell can't beat it for $10....mine retails at $300.

does anyone know what type the HF one is? can you leave it at a setting for a period of time, or is it the type that gets worn-out by it.

yeah i got mine for $10. you have to set it back to 10 ft/lbs whenever you are not using it. thats what the instructions say...

just wondering, how does a torque wrench get worn out by leaving it set for a period of time? im not really sure how the torque wrench mechanism works.

some torque wrenches use springs (like my old, worn-out Craftsman), and if you don't reset them back to zero (or 10 for the HF), the springs will get stretched-out, and the wrench will become innacurate.

my techwrench is electronic, so it automatically resets when it shuts-off, and the Precision unit shown on the link I posted from Tire-rack uses a "twin-beam" system, and both designs don't have to be reset back to zero after use.

I got my Snap On from school for $150, retail is $250. I won't go with any other, but Snap On or Mac, actually S K is pretty good too.

Another item that is a really good value is this heavy and sturdy low profile jack. It weighs almost 100 lbs. It's truely low profile with 2.75" at lowest height and even fits fine underneath my lowered Miata. I am not sure if it's available at the retail store though.

HF sells the S K for $90. http://www.harborfreight.com/cpi/cta...emnumber=46691

I'll stop; it must sound like I work for them. Actually, I like going to shop there as much as I like Fry's and Home Depot.

If you sign up to get their catalogue or promotional emails, you can find out all these good deals also. http://da.harborfreight.com/cpiweb/e...start.do?site=

The jack that I mentioned, for example, cannot be found on their site unless you got the product number from a flyer or an email.
