We've already narrowed our choices of a new car down to 3: the RSX from Acura, the Highlander from Toyota, and the RS or WRX from Subaru. We've already done business with a local Toyota dealership, so now I'm just doing research on the other two.
The purpose of this thread was just to be referred to a vietnamese seller or a dealership who has one and get some contact information. If i believed my parents would have no problem with a regular seller, I wouldn't have posted this. I've read many stories about dealerships playing games with customers and overcharging them with hidden costs in monthly payments and such. I don't want the same to happen to us. The key to any transaction is good communication right? What better way to do that than to have two people who speak the same language fluently.

I don't understand why people are raising a stink about this. Coming from a traditional Chinese family, my parents are much more comfortable dealing and speaking in Chinese. So IF I were to take them to a dealership with the purpose of having them deal/buy me a car, I would rather them do the dealing b/c they are the ones paying for the car. It will also save me from having to translate every word, especially when my Chinese isn't very good.
It's just the Chinese mentality. Eric (MexicanPizza), I'm not doubting your lowball skills, but Vietnamese/Chinese traders haggle much more than anyone else I've done business with. It's so commonplace that it's a protocol, so they have "their system" of dealing.
I don't think it reflects HellaDumb's comment on it being racist. It's not that they don't want to give business to a non-Asian salesman; they jsut want someone familiar with their dealing style/techniques/semantics.

Hope you find a good deal somewhere!!
By the way, are your folks going to get an STi??

No, no STI hehe. My mom and I will be driving the car since my dad often takes my moms car for business trips. I'm going to be driving it since my current car will soon be sold( 1991 integra). Well whatever car it's going to be, it'll be an auto. You dont think Stevens Creek has vietnamese sales reps? I guess I'll just call around when I have more free time. Time to study for finals...just a side question..anyone else go to SJSU?

That in turn does not allow for racial integration and only furthur alienates and isolates small knit communities in America. Plus, it's just a car....
