Lookie what i just picked up for $1000! (PICS)
Was working on Weds for an older guy in San Mateo that has a big storage space for his work (construction contractor). Next to piles of lumber and tools he has a collection of old VWs that havent seen the light of day for the last ten years. the original Mk 1 GTI with BBS wheels caught my eye, covered in dust but a completely straight, total time capsule! Asked him if he planed on selling any, he said he would sell em all make me an offer! I said how about 1k for the GTI
SOLD!
Didnt have a chance to take it then but had my buddy drive me down there today to pick it up, the guy was nice enough to go out last week and pay all the back registration for me and throw in a new battery! He even had a ton of spares including THREE more sets of original GTI front/rear seats and another set of wheels/tires. Best part, when i looked under the car it already had Konis and Neuspeed springs SCORE!!
Drove it all day long, fun as HELL! Just under 100k miles on it, I seriously dont think its been driven since the 90s. Dropped it off at my buddies body shop, hes going to cut/polish it and rehang the sagging bumper and replace oem of the trim, here it is 10 years dirty, will post some more pics when shes all pretty
BTW, he still has 2 old school VW pickups and an original 1984 Audi Quatro Coupe hes trying to unload. Though I think paul is going to come down with a trailer and a hand full of cash and clean him out next week lol
