Last set of normal bone swiss lasted me over three years until I decided to try out the Ceramics which are about a year old now. Ceramics are crazy smooth and quiet!

Lastly, looking back at my original posts I seem like a dick, sorry I didn't mean to come across that way. It's just that when I read the title Longboarders?, the first thing I thought of was some some hipster with sandals walking with their longboard down the street (oops theres me being a dick again)
Yeah I have tried all of the bones swiss, I have tried the ceramics, they are great for rain and gentle use. I used ceramic reds that broke on day 2, I completely busted the shield. Personally I like the labyrinth over the swiss 6 or regular swisses because of the double shield. I do a lot of tricks that are stressful on my board and the components so I have to use something cheap like Reds. But on my Landyachtz evo I use IDS Oust Moc 9s, those are the fastest bearings on the market. I love them, if you get a chance give them a try. Oh and no need for apology, you didn't come off as a dick so not to worry, it's a forum there are always critics. But I am far from being a hipster hahaha.

You should really try skim boarding it is a lot of fun, since you have a woody, take it out to a flat beach like Miramar (I know it is kinda far for you), that beach is great you can cruise for days on that beach.

This is an off topic video but the shorebreak is insane.

I love driving San Marcos -- I was just wondering if anyone had longboarded it.

Where in the bay area can I try out longboards? I'm looking for a good campus cruiser that I can carve on (~33"). Was thinking LY Carbon Mummy.

Yeah the reds are disposable, especially if you're riding them in the rain!

Yeah my friends all board and drive up on San Marcos. It is a cool run. It get wicked steep though.

The best place I have found is Black Diamond Sports, it is on University in Palo Alto. They have a lot of Landyachtz and Loadeds. If you get a board there, they will try and tell you that Seismic 3DM Avila wheels are better, don't listen to them it is only because the owner is a sponsored rider for seismic.

Well if you want a solid carving board I suggest going with a board a bit longer than 33". I go to college in Arizona and I have brought down a number of boards to ride, and by far the best board I have used was the Loaded Tan Tien because of it's light weight and flex. It also has noses and tails for shove its and etc. I also helped Loaded design the Tan Tien, I was given a test board, and I threw in the suggestion for more concave so carving and sliding should be at ease. So a part of me is biased towards that board But for campus riding, I think the landy you chose is a good one. Crazy enough I have seen kids here use a Landyachtz Evo as their cruiser, and that 11 ply board clocks in at 12 pounds as a complete! Oh and check out original, their trucks make campus riding and carving soooo much fun!

I know it is a skateboard but the company is a longboard company, regardless this guys is boss....next to rodney mullen.

It can cost anywhere from 100-300. But what makes your board slide is mainly your wheels. I can go into details but basically you want wheels that have rounded edges and a smaller wheel because the smaller the wheel the more rpms which makes the wheel easer to break loose. So get any kind of board with soft bushings, and 65-70mm wheels. But you can always DIY

Yeah I have a longboard thats a Sector 9 big *** board I got because some cop ran over this longboard I got in San Diego so I got the biggest most expensive one. And they payed for it. I would probably try to sell it or trade it for one more like this. Looks like so much more fun.

Wow really? Yeah the nice thing about Loaded's is that since they are made of bamboo they can flex and not break. My board has been run over by a Lexus LX going 35 and only the trucks got bent. The board was fine other wise.

You know I am so down. Although I throw on my wetsuit even in the winter and I go out pretty much any day as long as it isn't windy. haha the sad thing is that I am not even joking.

I really want to pick up a Loaded Vanguard, but I wish I could pick up a used one since I know I am going to mess it up! Also don't know much about bearings and trucks and such. Was thinking of hitting up a skate shop and seeing what's what.
