Car Info: 2002 WRX Wagon
Anyone want to help a new Sub owner with a few questions? Converted Ford guy...
So I just purchased a 2002 WRX wagon with the 4 speed auto (I know, weak sauce, but it is going to be a daily driver/snow tripper). I've been a Ford guy for about 10 years, so I don't know very much about this motor and the car in general.
I had a few questions, which will probably lead to more questions, but if y'all could help me out, I'd appreciate it!
1. Where is a good dealership to deal with? I have heard nightmares about Stevens Creek Subaru, so where is the closest alternative?
2. Do I need a turbo timer or a BOV? I don't plan on modding this thing to hell, but I would like to know which ones are worth the trouble.
3. The car is stock except for a Typhoon CAI. With Fords, Typhoon was kind of a low grade system, however this one seems to be made fairly decently. Should I yank it or what?
4. With the cold air intake, it seems as though the turbo spool is quite loud. Should it be that noticeable in the cabin?
5. The driver seat has a funky stain and it came with a new replacement seat, but I have to put it on. How hard is it to install it, anything I should look for (like electronics that might mess something up)? If someone has a step by step, that would be awesome.
6. There seems to be a button down on the shift plate that has popped off. What is it, and any idea where I can get a replacement for something like that?
7. What is a good all season wheel and tire combo? I will be taking this to Reno/Tahoe once a month or so during the winter. I like the look of black/gunmetal wheels, so if anyone knows some decent ones at a decent price, let me know. I want to stick with the stock 16" wheel size, but let me know if there is a disadvantage to that.
I won't be doing a lot of performance driving in this car, so please keep that in mind... I still have a Mustang for that I appreciate any help on any of these questions, I'm sure I will have more!

1. Santa Cruz or Carlsen (Redwood City)
2. Neither of these mods are good for a stock/nearly stock car.
3. Intakes generally provide no benefits for the WRX as the stock intake is designed really well.
4. Yes, by adding the aftermarket intake, the stock silencer has been removed.
5. The seat is easy to install, just four bolts. However, there are some plugs for the side airbag, so be gentle with those.
6. I'm not sure what you're talking about. Sorry.
7. You could always have the stock wheels painted. And Check out www.subydude.com which is always a good place to start looking for wheels.

You can get a replacement at the dealer, or at a salvage yard.

Note to self: don't race stiylin, or flip him off.
Snotrod: Okay, the piece is actually there, I just thought that it was a button rather than an overide lock. It looks like a button popped off, but I guess that is just how it looks.
Thanks for the info guys.
So Santa Cruz and Carlsen are the only ones? yikes.
