I am not, however, sold that vibration is a big issue that destroys main bearings. My previous engine had an unorthodox underdrive pulley for 98K and the bearings were fine. It also was tracked many many times, had a JC sports turbo kit, and wasn't babied at all (had receipt for new transmission). Blown turbo seals, my lead foot, and detonation killed in finally.

Until someone sets up a bench test for this theory, I'm fine with running my lightweight and underdriven pulley with a lightweight flywheel.
boxer motors by design are VERY balanced. That's one of their advatages. There is very little counter weight added on the crank. Look at a crank from a I-4, then look at one from an I-6, and then a H4/H6 motor. A lot less counterweight. Very balanced, it's designed to be so.

Run ProEcm Crank, PS and Alt pulleys. They are all lightweight pulleys, and are not undersized.

Also run a 13.5 lb flywheel, and would easily jump to 9lb or lower custom one if it wasn't so damn expensive and time consuming process.

Don't fear running them, it's all good. Nothing will happen to your motor due to those unless you are running crazy cams or something. At times I know the NA motors with aggressive cams can throw false mis-fire codes, but cars run fine.

why waste money on a pulley? Seriously, I know it's cheap and hell, but you could get like 20 cheese steaks instead.

btw, I feel compelled to use the powers bestowed on me by my mechanical engineering background to tell you straight up about modifications that decrease rotating mass: They are equivalent to taking a bit of weight off in 1st gear but as you get the 3rd gear+, the rotational weight savings becomes completely useless. That's just how the math works out... I'm too lazy to type in the long winded explanation but you can look it up somewhere by googling "rotational mass savings calculations" or something

Now something like Gagan just mentioned in the post above mine: now THAT would matter if you went all hardcore and $$$$ with the crank drilling, CF driveshaft, etc. and ended up taking 50 pounds off the weight of the car period.

They are useful for autoX where it's all 1st and second gear.
