Yeah, you just have to keep going forward. The second you stop and feel sorry for yourself is the second things get harder. Look at it as a blessing not a curse.

Oh yeah, if you get the clap see a Dr and get rid of it.

You ever lost your job before?

It is not always that easy to just find another job and a lot of us are living with no extra so if you loose your job you don't have any time to find a new job before the bill collectors start calling if they're not already.

It took me 8 months to find another job. I was working as a bouncer part time and a bar manager at a ranch part time just to try and make bills.

So "advice" like this though in the right direction can just be empty bull****. You don't know what his living situation is. Who's to say that in 2 months without work he won't have those things.

And beyond that... he didn't say he lost his job... right? Maybe he's just getting put in a different department. Hell my old job we changed "departments" damn near every year. Just means someone elses name is at the top of the org chart.

Last year I help build this shop from the ground up. 20 hour days...
Did this for 2 years. Then I got rearended and was out of work for a month. I come back to a oh we dont need you anymore... I was like WTF.... Well I'm better then that anyways. Went and found a better job.
Less money but I made it work.
So 150k in arizona down to 46k and back to the bay area! Wow.. what a change... lol

I survived! The bumps in life make you a better stronger person.

That shop went under last month by the way. I held a party at my house over it. I had built their customer base with hard work. When I left and it was found out. The customer base did as well, They were able to bail water for a bit. But Karma sank the ship.

What do you do for a living?

Speaks the truth....

My line of work.. There are only so many italian motorcycles dealers. So when I get let go. Its not just walking back into the mall and working at footlocker. I could if I ever needed too. But.. Thats what last resort is all about. And parting out my car!

I'm lucky to work with the manafacture.

As long as you're willing to do something you'll never be out of work. Sometimes pride gets in the way and stops people from working. There are plenty of jobs to be had. Maybe not in the field you want or the level you deserve but there are jobs. If times are super rough the only solution at times is to do things to make it work (just like OneManArmy working random jobs to survive). I left the automotive industry and when I wanted to come back I didn't just walk in and have my old job back. I had to start lower and work back to it. There was a point there somewhere, but I lost it. Oh well...

Won't always supply your needs. Yeah a business man could get laid off of work and go work for minimum wage somewhere... IF they'd hire him. I tried to get a job at kinkos and they said I was overqualified...

Anyways. You're used to making say 100k a year. Your debts are based off 100k a year. House payments, etc. You can't supply that you'd be AMAZED how quickly you loose everything.

Go work with homeless people for a while. Check your ego at the door and you're realize how many of them aren't drug addicts and losers. They're people that had the carpet pulled out from under them. Maybe made some poor choices or were stuck in ****ty circumstances. We're not that far away from being homeless on the way the bay area works these days.

speaking on that.

I was out of work for 8 months. Took me that long to find another job in my field. I took one that paid barely 50% of what I was making. Hell if I could have stayed where I was I'd be easily in 6 figures. So less than half if you look at it that way.

While I was unemployed I found work anywhere I could. I work side by side with illegal mexicans doing weed eating. I carried kegs around and carried ice around in 110 degree heat. I did whatever I could but you know what... if it wasn't for the kindness of my then girlfriends folks (let me live in their basement for free) and my folks helping me pay for some college classes and what not there is NO WAY I could have kept my car let alone had food in my stomach.

There is a huge difference between staying alive and holding onto your material possessions.

Hey.. I'm throwing a party this weekend.. I need the lawn outback and the keg set up... Spot you $10 ???

Its amazing what you do when you need to do it. I live for a few months without power right before the y2k.. Just to make sure I could do it if ever needed.

I really liked it.. I was quiet and calm..

No I havent lost a job before, my work ethic wont allow it.

In fact I can't even slow down when I'm on vacation from my job, I usually pick up side work because I hate being bored.

Nor did I specifically mention him losing a job. The main point I was going for was to put things in perspective for the op. I'm sorry you found my advice as empty B.S., you must be the most successful person in the history of the world. Don't worry, this wont be a back & forth issue....you can claim the "I'm the best poster on i-club" award for the day.

Hey slow04wrx, what actually happened?

And that is exactly why you shouldn't live paycheck to paycheck and spend everything you make. Especially if you are in a volitile industry.

Very true and 100% correct but the sad truth is that its difficult to do and most people don't do it. Very easy to fall into a trap of living over your means.
