Lemans Karting in Fremont
Hello,
Hahahah... well, the first day that I met Gary Sheehan was at the track. After a day of driving the Subaru racecar, he looked exhausted. I asked him if he wanted a turn behind the wheel of my Miata, since he had had such a hard day struggling with a car that simply didn't yet handle at all like a racecar (stock suspension among other issues). He seemed pretty excited and took me out for a few laps.
After maybe 15 minutes of driving, we called it quits for the day. Gary's best time was 6 seconds a lap faster than mine, in my own car... A maestro of driving, I am not.
Just for fun, we should keep a registry here of people's times. As of today, the track record was 22.01 seconds. I tossed my timesheets so I don't know exactly what I got, but I was 23.6xx for my fastest lap.
Ravent, you've been, right? Post your times up, too. Now to get Gary to go there and see if I can stuff him into a wa... I mean, see if I can keep up with him!

I went to LeMans late friday night (their first full day open). Great karts, the seats fit much better. The karts have 9hp vs. Speedrings 6hp. Power induced oversteer is possible with these babbies, as the front end seems to grip much better (dunno if I ever got it to push..). The track is very technical, rewarding smoothness over the man-handling and sliding at Speedring.
The owners are all really cool, and receptive to feedback. It was good to see their enthusiasm. The gear the have - suits, helmets seem to be first rate. The karts are amazing, very quick steering.
Looks like the got some of Speedrings talent too - a couple of the guys working the track there are from Speedring.
Not to bash speedring, I love what they did. But the recent rate hike to $25/practice makes it seem a bit too expensive. I'm glad to see some competition in the area.
