yes, its an STI key and an STI neck piece.

the key does connect to the neck piece.

the neck piece (i'm wearing one right now) has muti functionality (here comes the shpeeel):

- coke can opener... no, really!
- break away key attachment (so u don't have to remove the neck piece from your neck when you crank your car up)
- bottle holder
- and another hook thingy for misc. stuff.

ask daios, he knows what to do to make the STI key work for the 2000, i think all u have to do is shave it thinner.

I got the STi key and pink neck piece! Too bad they don't make the key in pink to match!

I got the key, and might pick up this necklace/lanyard thing.

Scott, just get the key copied, and then take a file, and slowly finish the shape to match your key... then fille down each side, little by little, keeping it even, and keep checking if it fits... wipe the key clean and try the ignition. when it fits that, file so that it fits the trunk and door.

Mine is currently thin enough for ignition and trunk, but not doors.

Okay, I got some questions. I already have the STi key (the one here: http://www.subydude.com/parts/details.php?5 ) cut to fit my car, so you guys are say that it needs to be modded to fit the neck "piece". Does this involve removing material from the part of the key that engages with the pins to operate the ignition or locks? Or is it just the part you use to turn the key with your hand?

i got tired of fileing my key... i just busted out the dre-mel and hack away... although my key is really really thin now... but it works I think you have to shave the groves on the sides also to make it work on the doors and trunk. haven't gotten to it since i'm too lazy and don't have the right tool. but just shaving the sides to make it think lets it work on the ignition.

Everything is cool about that key except that blue plastic part. Gives it that toy feel

I grabbed one really cheap a while back, compared itt to a legacy factory blank, and went to work with the sanding drum on a dremel (nice, even, steady progress). Thiined it way down, and beveled the edges of the center channels a bit, then got it cut. didn't work in the car, I looked at it, and narrowed the tip a little bit, and it worked in ignition, doors, trunk and glovebox right away. Weird quirk; because it was cut by hand, it only worked going in one way (luckily right side up), or so I thought. Then I got in my car one day and the key was in upside down, and my GF said "it wasn't supposed to go in that way?"
lol
works perfectly now

Oh, it is relevant, becuase the old legacies and imprezas used the same blanks. Scott, you've seen the ghettoness involved in some areas of my car; if I can make the key work.......
