I had a GREAT TIME with you guys. Thanks for coming along.
I'm happy to report, i didn't get killed when i got home last night. I think she was just happy to see me. We hugged for a good 2 minutes.
I have a lot of great pics and some really sweet video. I'll try to get something up tonight if i'm not at the shot too late

I think the pictures tell the story better than any words can.
What the pictures don't show is how the passenger door opened about 20 feet up in mid air, (those things that look like bushes are actually more like treetops) rich's car was teetering on the brink, only held up by a dirt clod under the skid plate and a manzanita bush under the back bumper.
After seeing what a twin boom F350 tow truck can do, I think that's gotta be my next vehicle!

In rich's defence, we'd been on really pretty solid dirt and gravel all day, this corner has been wet and in the shade and was covered in about 3 inches of super slick mud, he didn't even need to be going very fast at all, because as soon as he turned the wheels in this stuff the tires just loaded up blobs of slippery goo to lubricate under the contact patches- right off the road.
It could easily have happened to any of us, so as the good doctor pointed out, rich hung it out there in the lead so none of us had to, we are all very grateful it didn't end up any worse than it did.
We tried pulling him back up with 2 subies, to no avail, before a couple of hunters with a mid sized pick-up came by and tried to give a couple of tugs, but those only managed to see the car slide further off, so we belayed his car off mine with a tow strap and sent bushido and drtofu for the pro's.
Rich's Off-Road Recovery service is a number worth keeping handy if you spend time out on the woods around Clear Lake.

Holly crap Rich! I'm glad you're ok! I can't help but feel partially responsible for not getting your tow hook back in time
.
How's the car? Any post-op pics?
