Laptop Shopping Question

In the market for a new laptop, need something user-friendly and (most importantly) reliable.
Considering the HP DV7-4273US. Anyone know anything about it or have any recommendations regarding it? Thanks!

Also, if not this laptop, what models do you recommend that are in a similar price range (or cheaper), and why? Thank you!

P.S. Do NOT want a Mac.

Get a mac....

LOL!

Seriously though. At that price point it's all about features and bang for the buck. I've been pretty impressed with HP screens but the AMD in that computer is kinda weak.

I agree. With the new INTEL chips, these amd's are almost outdated. I bought my laptop on sale, I shopped for at least 2 months before I bought looking for the sale. Got it over $140 off. So far it's great, and weighs next to nothing. Here's a link to it, currently being sold at full price. http://www.amazon.com/Toshiba-Port%C...7822292&sr=8-6 . I got it for $700 something.

Personally, I would never get an HP again. My friend has had 2 HP laptops and they've both crapped out on him.

Check out ASUS.

Yeah I have an HP and the quality ain't what it used to be. The HDD crapped out twice on me, but the physical components have not held up to a year+ of pretty rough use. My trackpad is is flaky and chipped, the trim is slowly getting bent and the fan is loud as hell. It's a tough call though, wait for a sandy bridge unit to come out or cop a i5/7? If price, I'd say get an i5. I just bought this guy yesterday

I agree I have always had nothing but good luck with my two macs I have owned. Both still work till this day, although one is so far outdated its not even used (G4 cube).

But I was shopping for a PC laptop just because the price was right, and I figure I could datalog and do things that a mac isn't really compatible with. I picked a Lenovo about 2 1/2 years ago and had absolutely no problems whatsoever....untill my drunk buddies were wrestling and busted the screen when they landed on it. Thing still works, just screen is all jacked. So when it comes time to buy another I think I'll get another Lenovo, they seem to be great values. They might not be the prettiest laptop's but I'll take reliable over pretty any day of the week and twice on sunday.
