A seca pipe is generally held on with a clamp and is removed as soon as you don't have to be quiet anymore.
I didn't mean any offense - I assumed the silencer you were referring to was the slip-in type for a melon shooter exhaust, and that you didn't like the looks of those. I don't either, but if it meant the difference between being able to run at a track day, I'd probably just suck it up and do it. Everyone's different though.
