Yeah, for the Japanese, Land taxes and registration fees are a killer.

Glad I was in the Military. It can run around $3000 to reregister a car for Japanese Nationals.
So, the military is exempt from having to pay the tax on a purchased car? or anything else?

If you live on base theres no reason for a tax.

Hope you had a great time. That Nissan would look great in your Silver car collection.

And yes, it's very sad what happened to Petter. The race was theirs and then that damn rock...
Looks like he's not going to be able to cut his hair for some time.

see you when you guys get back

Trust me, I have a TON of car pics to post when I get back, including the coolest parking lot EVAR! Hokkaido is covered, COVERED in modded subies, like every other car, and alot of them are legacies and foresters, never thought they could look that good. I`ll have a big post when I get back.

well Ill tell you, if youre a westerner and want to get laid in japan then go to Sapporo, there are really hardly any other foreigners there, Ive never been treated like that anywhere. FIRST club I walked into had 2 random girls send me over drinks, walking down the street cars with girls screaming cat calls at me out the window. Made the mistake of bringing my wife with me though *sigh* boy was she annoyed!

Oh yeah, Im moving to Sapporo, its been fun guys, come out and visit me sometime
Taken about 400 pics so far I gotta sort through, but heres one of a R32 GTR that I found on a car lot in Obihiro, less than 50K miles on it and still cherry. For sale for 650K yen(about $6300) got out to check it out and take the pic and a guy comes out and says its been on the lot for 2 months and he'll let me have it for 550K yen, thats ****ing old used honda civic money! you would look sad too, I grumbled all the way back to the car.
I lived in Sapporo for a couple years. That's pretty funny you went all the way to dinky *** Obihiro on your trip. I don't think even most japanese people who don't live on Hokkaido have the faintest idea where that is. Is Ross still the goto guy when dealing with rallying out there? I know he was just getting that stuff setup when I left.

haha, you think Obihiro is small, that was rally headquarters, about the size of Santa Rosa, but then I went north of there about 2 1/2 hours to the thriving metropolis of Rikubitsu for one of the stages, I was the ONLY foreigner there to watch the stage and I dont think anyone there had ever seen a westerner in person until then, now that was a headtrip!
