shocked.
I believe (and am NOT sure on this) that he is captive born not wild caught.

Regardless, its a killer whale, and it was playing, and that trainer should have known it was a possibility, no one should be shocked at all.

From what I heard in the news the trainer did know it was a possibility and accepted it. The family said she wouldn't want the animal killed for being an animal. So there you have it. Tragic, but the risks were accepted by all involved.

This same whale was previously linked to 2 other killings of humans and none of the trainers were allowed in the water with it. Whilst the trainer turned away to talk to the crowd it jumped up onto a feeding platform, grabbed her by the ponytail and dragged her in and killed her.

I'm thinking the whale isn't playing and actually hates it's human masters

So, you're calling this suicide by whale?

just a thought: I'm pretty sure there is no law that says whales arent allowed to kill humans, however, suicide is illegal in our country. So, did the trainer break the law by "allowing" herself to be killed by the whale?

I didn't say she said she wanted to die by whale. She just said she knew it was a possibility. DON'T YOU TWIST MY WORDS! Or something.

Yeah, Glen. Same whale had killed two others. I still say it was playing judging by the way it was moving around. Who knows. It's sad either way.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tilikum_(orca)

It was from the wild.

"He has sired many offspring, and has been involved in the deaths of three people."

which translates to "he ****ed helllllla *****es and killed like 3 cops"

i say she put up a good fight as many times as that whale pounced her and she kept coming up...

At the same time if you work with something that has the word "killer" in it, you should just accept something terrible will probably happen to you.

if someone had a gun with them and were seeing that, would you shoot the whale? just curious...
I would bazooka it if I happen to have one at the time.

I highly doubt a Tranq would have put a 4 ton whale to sleep before it had done its damage... Rip Whale Trainer....

It is neither a "killer" or a "whale."
Wiki
Wild killer whales are not considered a threat to humans,[4] although there have been cases of captive killer whales killing or injuring their handlers at marine theme parks. The killer whale features strongly in the mythologies of indigenous cultures. In Western cultures, it has had a reputation for being a fearsome predator, but in recent decades better understanding has led to widespread appreciation of the species.

^ such horse crap if you believe that old *** excerpt from the 50's. Watch the new BBC Life series, or I think there was a segment in either Blue Planet or Planet Earth. Killer Whales, or more accurately Orcas play with young seals and penguins like hackey sacks, no joke.
