just thought this was wierd
Tonight is one of those nights myself and a couple friends take to just relax after a buisy week of working and school. So I'm driving down Davis towards International and I see a cop, pretty normal around this area so I wasn't alarmed or anything (there is a police station around the corner). I'm just cruising like normal, actually a little below the speed limit. Well the cop falls in behind a few cars back (none of those cars are with me) and he starts tailgating and checking plates on every single person. Well as soon as I turn on to International almost immediately on the right is TapX which is our destination. I can see the cop stopped at the end of the street that I turned on in my rearview, and when I pull into my parking space he pulled in behind me. So I just get out and start walking towards TapX, but he gives me a shout. "So where's your license plates?" I tell him that the car is brand new (it's a week and a half old 2006 WRX) so he asks "where are your dealer plates" I was like what you mean? he says "you know the paper plates" I said umm I took them off, they're paper. He said "so what dealer you get your car from then?" I told him, Subaru/Ford in Albany, it's brand new, I have the sticker in the window for proof and all that if you would like to take a look. Then he drove off.
I dunno, maybe it's because I had my hoody on when I was driving cause it was 49 degrees out. Doesn't make me hate cops or anything just a waiste of time in my opinion.
I'm pretty sure I'll be sticking to Carb approved mods, or at least ones that are unseen. The areas I drive in are just such a hassle. (Berkeley, Oakland, Richmond, and most of the East Bay.)

theres alot of cops that are ****** out there and i believe have nothing to do. yea it may be there job but seriously there are better thing to do than lame stuff like that. im also sticking to carb parts since i dont want to deal with the hassle in this sh1tty state. i fortunately have never been bothered out here with my exhaust...but then again im just an 01 RS. my tint is illegal, i have borla head and stromung catback which is definently noticeable but it looks like its stock so i guess they dont bother me for it :shrugs:

There is no law stating that you must have dealership placeholders while you wait for your plates. If a cop wants to look at your temporary registration, they can ask to see it. They can pull you over just to look at it if they so choose. Granted, it's a hassle, but they are doing their job.
dude, there are cops that ticket their own department guys. w t f ? point is, there are some good ones, some bad ones. who knows if this guy was good or bad as he was being a little too cautious. dubious i should say.
there are a lot of ***** cops out there. i remember one, time a few years back, i was a passenger with a buddy of mine that was driving. we pass by this b*tch cop with a male cop in the passenger seat, they make their right turn and end up in back of us. they then speed passed us and stop in the center divider. we get to our right and we are on our way.
my friend then looks in the rear view and was like, "yo i'm gonna have to pull into this residential and park the car". he parks the car, we get out and who is stopped behind us? the same cops?!
the b*tch cop pulls up and asks my friend what his last name is, then asks him, "did you know that your registration expires in 4 days?"
right then my jaw dropped and my friend told her, "wow, are you going to tell me when i'm due for my next oil change as well?" the b*tch just gave a sarcastic laugh and said "ha ha funny." then drove off.

well I know I have to be more careful now that I own a WRX
I know it's more of a target car. I'm just glad I have a TR, so the wing and all that isn't such a dead give away.

lol...I had the SAME exact thing happen to me in emeryville at like 1am. I took the dealer plates off because they were orange/yellow
Cop came up, I showed him the sticker in the window, he then said
"Oh, I couldnt see it, your wing is so high"
lol! Like you could see it anyway with my rear tint
First and only time Ive been pulled over though in the STi

^ yeah any of those areas, like emeryville and berkeley, have alot of cameras for intersections, so they are crazy strict about having front plates and all that.
