This just proves speed kills

I just ran across this:

Cfir : Center for Injury Research - Home

The third paragraph states, the fatality rate of Germany is less than half of the United States. So they have no speed limits on parts of the Autobahn and most US drivers are stuck with the 65 mph speed limit.

It's time to fight back against the draconian traffic laws in the US. I'm calling for no speed limits on California highways. Just think of how many lives will be saved in California alone.

Of course per capita they probably drive a lot fewer miles than the US and have much stricter licensing requirements than the US, but HALF? The fact that we're ranked next to India and China isn't very comforting either.

Stop the madness, call your CA congressional representatives today!

What he said. We can't increase average speeds with the morons that we have cruising our roads. Increasing the costs to obtain a license would go a long way towards making people think about alternate transportation as well.

Well said sir's

Imo I think they should re-test some people for their licenses based on their records/age etc... Or at least make them harder to obtain in the first place.

The reason accident rates are so high in the US is because of the idiot PEOPLE, not the government. Your position and suggestion makes NO sense.

Germany also maintains their roads about 300% more than the US and builds far more vehicles intended for such use. If we had the same standards to get a license as Germany here, VERY few people would be driving (and that would be a good thing).

Yeah, OP, "parts of the Autobahn" have no speed limits, but the rest of it does, and so do many of the roads out there.

It's the licensing standards that result in less accidents, because there are more capable drivers on the road.

Forget retesting people, US driving tests have become more of a rite of passage for a teen first getting their license rather than an actual test to see if you can drive well.

That and there is a general lack of courteousness here with driving, *******s that sit in the leftmost lane, people that cut you off, fail to signal, etc.

More than half of the sunset district drivers need to have their licenses revoked lol.

We would definitely have to place better vehicular inspections. Imagine an Oakland donk with this. Yeah dey b krazy
