July 4th Getaway Suggestions? (Romantics)
So July 4th lands on Saturday this year, maybe I'm a little late in making plans. What are your suggestions for a relaxing getaway? Kinda an old town walk around area if you know what I mean. Kinda like Carmel near Watsonville. I'm lookin' for suggestions. How is Reno? Lake Tahoe? Any other areas within 2-3hrs drive?

Get a fancy hotel room somewhere. Get spa treatments for the two of you. Get a couples massage...omg they're so great. spend time around the pool, hot tub..then take her out to dinner with and go someplace for ice cream! or whatever dessert you want.

Wine tasting in Napa is fun but if you look like your under 25 you get haggled about your age. Takes the fun out of the whole thing. Some jackass asked me 5x if I was 21 and as soon as I asked if he'd like to see my ID he stfu.
Theres this awesome couples spa in Calistoga called Golden Haven be expected to pay $180 per person for the full spa package. It's pricey but it's definately worth it. Total zen afterwards. They also are a hotel and have rooms with jacccuzi's as well.
Another is Hotel Kabuki in Japantown SF. They have an awesome room service full Japanese breakfast and they have tea service too...And a mini bar!
I work at Hilton if you decide to go that route I can give you a special web site.

just south of there is mendocino, which is a beautiful mix of beach, cliffs, and redwoods. staying in mendocino is price, but you can stay in fort bragg on the cheap and just drive down there. as a bonus, the road to get up there (128) has a nice twisty section through the redwoods. kinda sucks when you get behind a slow car though.

Consider going to Paso Robles. It's a lot like Napa, but less pretentious, and less pricey (most tastings are either free or under $5-10). I imagine it to be what Napa used to be like 20-30 years ago. The gf and I have been to both Napa and Paso Robles, and we keep going back to Paso. It's about 2.5-3hrs, depending on where you're driving from. I'd recommend staying at BellaSera. It's pricey, but if you're only going to be there for a night or two, why not splurge? They also have in-room hot tubs.
Paso also has awesome wines, and they're all relatively close. Plus, the drive on 46 is really nice/scenic. Out of the wineries we've been to, we like Tobin James, Eagle Castle, and Justin.
