Job wanted
Well, looks like I've joined the "reorged out of a job" club. The 14th was my last work day. I'm currently job hunting, and I'm wondering if anyone in BAIC knows of any open sysadmin positions. I'm an experienced sysadmin (mostly windows, all versions, client and server), I have my CCNA, and I have management experience.
If any of you guys have any leads, please shoot them my way.
Thanks all. It's good to be part of BAIC, the COMMUNITY that looks out for each other.

I think we might have some openings for Windows admins in the near future, but I don't know what they'll be looking for. Check in with me every couple weeks and I'll let you know.
BTW: We're in Rancho Cordova though...
edit: you know what - I'll leave my original post..but you probably don't want to work here....just trust me on that one.

Well, with 14 years in IT, 13 years in the military, and management experience, I think I can find a decent job at a decent wage. Who knows... I may have to go on active duty for a bit as an O3, maybe get a language, to make ends meet. I have options, so I'm not worried yet.... but ask me in two months

I don't know about the wine tour road trip yet. I'll have to see once we check the budget. Row and I would be happy to go, though.

I can say what I do there. I work in Systems Management doing automation. We have some monitoring tools (Tivoli, ProactiveNet, SiteScope) and we support Remedy on the server side. I do a lot of programming in PERL on Wintel and UNIX systems (aix/solaris) to better monitor our systems and apps. Lately I've been doing a lot of automation work to integrate our Tivoli console product with Remedy. It's actually pretty cool, but my company (currently anyway) has decided to move our department functionality to Texas. I find out next week if that's really going to happen - if so I'll be laid off as of March 31.
So anybody got any openings? I learn fast and I'm real nice
I can send you my resume if you've got an opening at your company that will fit what I can do!

You can always take the DLAB if you already haven't and then goto Monterey for six months for active 03 pay
and in the mean time try to line something up for the future.

I'm very familiar with the language requirements
. I haven't taken the DLAB yet, but if I did, I would aim for a high score, so I can get a CAT IV or V language, like Chinese Mandarin or Korean. Each is over a year, but I can justify it with the unit fund manager
. It's either that or complete my transfer to the Air Force, do their 8 months training, and then see about getting Japanese at DLI. Either way, I'd get BAH and BAS for my zip code, which should just about cover my mortage.
