Its always been like that. Its the law, but from what I hear you can state in your sale ad that the buyer will have to be responsible for the smog.

 

so is it the same for older models? i have a 94 and i havent had to do a smog since i got it in late 01

 

i know...i just think its pretty retarded you have to smog when selling to another person, but dont have to when its immediately family...you're STILL transferring the title to another person whats the difference if its family?? i hate that ****, so *** backwards...i could say the other person has to smog, but we'll see i guess...i just have to see if my 01 RS will smog with the borla header and stromung catback

 

I guess it is 6 yrs before smogging. I bought my WRX in May of 01 when they first came out and still no smog requierments. My turn will come in May 07. Guess I can install the vf34 then...

 

It's to protect the person buying your car... I guess it doesn't apply when it's family? You also don't have to pay use tax when it's a family member if they aren't buying it from you.

yea i dont see why "family" should matter...its still going to another person other than yourself....and yes i am looking to sell my RS in the next few months, i need to pay it off first and im looking for an 04/05 STi
