Thumbs down It's not like it used to be...

I remember when it was fun to work here...

Not even fun, just civil and generous. Every Holiday weekend (until this one) on the Friday before, an email would go out from HR that would say, "We will be closing early at 3:00pm so that you all can get a jump on your holiday weekend. Have a wonderful and safe weekend with your families!".

Today... nothing...

A call to HR revealed why... there is no one here. 90% of the managers and "higher up's" are gone and all of HR is gone. The people who are here are here to make sure the peons don't bolt early...

An email even went out that said, "We have been recieving several emails and, No, we will not be closing early today."

All of the remote offices closed early today...

lame-o

What the hell. They can't give a friggin' two hours to placate the masses... buncha slave-driving **** bastards.

The manager in this office (I'm in the one remote office that didn't close early) keeps looking out the window of her office to see who is still there. You can tell because she keeps doing sweeps of the office... lame.

[raises hand jumps up and down]
I want a 4 day work week with a nap in the middle of the day. I want a month off in the summer for "holiday".

Dude the boss is a total tool...

As for the German company thing, I do work for one. But the rules are different depending on which country you live in. In Germany they have 6 weeks of holidays (thats just ****ing holidays) + vacation, the german labor authority is working on a 4 day workweek legislation, their transportation is subsidized (they pay for your car payment, 2 sets of tires a year, gas, all you need to do is pay for insurance), etc... Its so depressing just thinking about it.

To top it all off they have the freakin autobahn and billiard table smooth roads.

Yeah, that would be ideal, but in the giant corporate environment where the average worker does not reap the benefits of working harder=more rewards, you would think that they could cut us loose a couple of hours early. It would be different if they had never done that before...
