It's almost time to push SF into the Pacific.

Drivers crossing greater downtown San Francisco and the southern border with San Mateo County could be hit with a new toll costing them as much as $1,560 a year.

Soo retarded. As if that area isn't already crowded enough as it is... I can see lines of cars getting backed up for miles trying to get in and out of the City. Glad I take BART when I have to go to the City.

The earliest the new tolls would go into effect would be 2015, and then only for a six-month to one-year experiment to gauge public reaction and the effectiveness.
Gauge public reaction? Yeah let me just let you in on what thats going to be.

Yeah, I foresee decreased traffic in that 3 hour gap, but increased before and after. The economy sucks as it is, way to kick people while they're down SF.

And how do they expect to collect tolls? Are they building walls around the downtown area like they did in Bagdad and have toll entrance/exits?

no, looks like theyre just going to put toll booths on the 101 and 280 going into SF. You know, because a line of cars stopping to pay tolls always helps ease congestion. (???)

Holy crap, charging to leave areas of SF, imagine if you had to go in a semi-circle or triangle through those hrs. That's like 15 bux a loop ON TOLL not on gas!

ya then Im not surprised, good to know. Cant figure out how they would be able to enforce this, if they put the tolls on the freeways theres ton of other roads they could use to bypass it
