Issues with puppies and apartments

My maltipoo has always been a very vocal puppy. She has separation anxiety, and is very loud when we leave. Our apartment building was bought, and now the lady that just moved in downstairs and our new landlord are complaining about her. I dont want to move, and dont want to get rid of her. Dont want to put a shock collar on her either. what kind of options do I have....

was looking at a muzzle temporarily, but this looks like a better option. Now I need to find one that fits a 5lb puppy

Dog owners need training.
Call around to find the right trainer that works for you.

Crate train. Start small like going to the other room. Don't give her/he any attention when you leave. They'll eventually learn that when you leave you will eventually come back.

i know shock collars sound violent but they are not. i worked at pet food express from 05-07 and now 011-... and when they sent us to the new-hire training, we all tried them and at their highest setting, only set off what could be compared to as a static shock. The part about it that works is the quick and abrupt feeling, not the feeling itself.
But it is still a sensitive idea for some and that spray collar is a great option.

btw, if anybody has any pet questions, PM's are welcome

We did this with Kane.

At first he was sketched out by it, but now he LOVES it!

My dog LOVES his crate. You just tell him "kennel" and he goes right into it. The key is to make it their place and not a place they associate with punishment. Crating also teaches them not to pee all over.

Reconsider the "shock" collar. Try it on yourself, the shock is pretty mild even when its turned up all the way. The idea is just to distract the dog from it's current thought so it doesn't spiral into a neurosis. You only need to shock the dog once and from there on you only need to use the vibrate feature.

Watch some Dog Whisperer it really opens your eyes to what triggers your dog's behavior.

currently doing this and spent the last two days bark free according to my neighbors. we leave a t-shirt from each of us in there with her that smell like us, and we leave the radio on. not a single peep all day.
