No 3rd party applications and no im application that will connect to AIM kill it. Basically it is an ipod that you can use to make phone calls and browse the web. That alone is not worth the price of admission and monthly fee's.

What made you think it was anything more or less?

The cheapest plan is like 60/mo, not 100.

no, but after taxes, and up grades, you're probably looking to be at least around $75, which is still $2400, which is still a lot.

As far as I know, this is the first time anyone has ever mentioned the 2 year cost of owning a telephone.

So a free phone will cost you $1900 over 2 years. Do you look at it that way?

Do you think of the long term costs when purchasing a HDTV? Or next car with mods added?

I didn't think so.

Most of these arguments are unrealistic.

AT&T was the beta tester.

1) No insurance is avail from ATT for the phone
2) I bet it does fine on a 6ft drop.
3) What makes you thik you are a beta tester? It may be a rev 1.0 product, but that doesn't mean you are beta testing.

well $600 for an ipod phone then... there are other phones with the same and/or more feature that can be had for the less but they only lack the cachet of Apple marketing.

makes calls
plays Mp3s
gets personal Email
has a nice photo album
but hey, the internet turns SIDEWAYS MANG!!!!

no 3G
No GPS
No Coporate email support
No flash
No MMS support(no picture messaging)
No reliable broadband network(that ****ty cingular high speed network sucks)
The mobile version of OS X or whatever it is the iPhone runs takes up 700MB of the device's capacity. Damn son!
There's no way to cut, copy, or paste text! WHOA! Big, big mistake.
No A2DP support. That, friends, is such a huge bummer right there.
Sorry, music can't be used as a ringtone -- even if it's just a raw MP3. No additional ringtones will be sold at launch.

On a PC the iPhone syncs with Outlook for calendars AND addresses! Noice.
It supports Exchange in some capacity, according to Walt, but he doesn't exactly say how.
Pogue again confirms document file reading -- but not editing -- for PDF, Word, and Excel (only).
Adobe Flash support is officially out. It's just not in the browser. Neither is there any other kind of embedded video support. Sorry everybody, that's that.
It will take snaps, but won't record video. How can Apple love YouTube as much as it does and not realize cellphone-shot movies make up a sizeable chunk of the crazy crap you find on there?

& do you honestly believe AT&T got the bugs out of it? really?

More than half of what you mention can be supplied in a software update and is most likely omitted due to battery use concerns.

Apple marketing has simply shown what the product can do. They have not created the hype.

Yes, Steve jobs called it the best thing since the STI (or sliced bread). You know what the first reviewers have said, "it's probably the best phone since Alexander Graham Bell first said Hello to someone else over a wire."

How much was the first Blackberry and how much was its data plan?

People are just hating on the damn thing. I'm just sticking to the facts.

And no, I am not even buying one.

"& do you honestly believe AT&T got the bugs out of it? really? "

No, I think Apple did most of it on its own.
