intro and a question
hey baic,
i've been a member of i-club for awhile, but have just been lurking around. i'm from the redwood city area but commute to work in santa clara so you may see me going up and down 101 or in the rwc, san carlos area.
my subie is currently stock and i'm planning on doing a stage 2 upgrade (cobb ap, uppipe, downpipe, cbe). i'm considering a borla hush for the cbe. any recommendations for shops, local or online, to get the exhaust from?

Do alot of research on CBE before you buy for the wagon.
Generally speaking louder is not better in the long run....especially if you commute in it!
There are (IMO) more quiet CBE than borla hush.
AutoHQ does awesome work!

so you have some reference for what i'm looking for, on another vehicle, a honda, i ran a greddy sp2 which i thought was too loud. that got replaced with an apexi world sport 2 which is just right.

I couldn't stop the resonance at 3k-3.5k rpm in my wagon when I was Stage 2. This was with a catless Helix and a Prodrive muffler. My recommendation is to go Stage 2 with the stock muffler and then try various mufflers until you find the sound you want. From my searches in the forums, it seems wagon owners are most happy with the factory STi muffler. All reports have been that the Borla Hush drones in the wagon.

I run a catted downpipe and Greddy EVO 2. It is louder than when I ran the cobb downpip, custom 3" mid-pipe with OEM STI axle back, but much less back pressure with noticeable power increase.
No drone. My only fret is Cobb downpipes & greddy cbe do not fit well at all.
Many other guys on here will attest to the quiet level of the EVO2.
Fujitsubo Legalis R Exhaust is probably more quiet with perfect fit, but also $1000.
Maddad whisper, Tanabe touring medallion, turboxs, Greddy SP2
The big thing is catted downpipe for cutting volume though IMO.
