A buddy and mine are getting some alignment tools for our cars, so we're thinking of having a mini-meet for peeps who want to check their alignment. We can do camber/castor/Toe.

WE ARE NOT PROS, just car enthusiast who's done this ourselves before.

We haven't set a date yet. If you know what your doing, you can use our equipment. If you don't know what your doing, we can show you.

Location will be around san mateo (we haven't decided yet).

Date will be (in about a week or two), once we get some feedback we can figure out a good time and set an appropriate location.

Cost...we'd appreciate a donation just because these tools aren't cheap...since we're not pros we won't make anyone pay.

We do expect positive attitudes and patience.

I dunno if it's wise to trust an allignment to NOT PROS - what are the chances of something gettng really screwed? But it sounds cheap, so I'm there Actually, I was thinking of getting allignment done prob in about two weeks, so if time permits, I'd show up

as long as you know how to use the tools, alignment isnt that hard to do.

you have caster, toe and camber.

what can GET SCREWED are your tires if the numbers dont align correctly.

what kind of alignment tools are you getting?

 

I might be interested if you have any more details about the tools ect / experience. I'm gonna put new suspension on soon so I'll need an alignment.

 

alignment is not rocket science...the reason it cost between $60 to $100 at shops is due to time. It's like bleeding brakes or waxing a car....the more time you put into it, the better the end result. It's not necessarily skill as the willingness to spend some serious time to be as accurate as possible.

Obviously, an experienced tech can do it right, quickly, but if the tools are well calibrated, it's just time consuming. If something is wrong, ie the toe waaay off, Any idiot with good eyes can tell.

This isn't like tuning a car, where the wrong setting blows the engine. If a well calibrated toe tool says zero degrees, then it's zero degrees.

Again, I'm not trying to coax peeps into coming, if they have doubts; don't come. I'd rather attract the people who know something about alignment and realizes what it takes or people who sees this as an opportunity to learn a lifelong skill.

If you're planning on showing up and just throwing us the keys and walking away...we'll just throw the keys right back at you, cuz this ain't no service
...it's give and take...trial and error...learning and teaching.

If I don;t get much of a response, then we won;t have a "formal" install day. My buddy and I will just do our own cars and individuals can just PM me to find out details and come by that day.
