pull on the drivers and passenger side of the manifold separately. I am betting it is the water hard line I talked about before. Keep in mind the inlet has to come with the manifold as well...

Maybe I will go look at the engine sitting on my stand later...if I can reach it lol.

That's not the big issue at the moment. Problem is that the manifold just plain won't come off. I don't have any idea what's holding it up anymore.
Dan.

I had an 07 before. Subaru went to this new plug halfway through 06 and into 07. The easiest way to get it off it to unbolt it from the strut tower. there should be 2 or 3 10mm bolts holding it to the strut tower. as for the drivers side being held down, make sure you have removed all the crossover hoses that connect the heads together, side to side. there should be two hoses hooked to each side of the valve covers. As those hoses run right over the corner of the intake manifold. Also, very important here, be sure to unplug all connectors under the manifold. everyone always misses the temp sensor. you should have removed your alternator. once that's out of the way you should see three connectors under the manifold. Crank position sensor, stock oil press switch, and coolant temp sensor. Unplug all three.

Just thought of another one. The knock sensor. that on the drivers side on the back of the manifold, the plug that is. Did you undo the coolant lines that run to your throttle body? Underneath the intake manifold right under the throttle body there will be a nipple that hooks to you pcv system. Check that too. Fuel lines are on the drivers side, I take it you’ve disconnected those.

These are all I can think of just off the top of my head right now. Let us know what you find out.

^^ I was just about to say to check the plugs underneath the manifold also. The crank position sensor is the one that got me. Remove the alternator and they should be easy to see. I hope this helps.

Good advice

Any luck yet? I just checked my spare motor outside, and besides the inlet and the water pipe I keep mentioning, it all comes down to the harness and all of the PCV and breather lines running across the engine.

Yes, I have almost everything out. The driver's side is just being stubborn. I did not find the knock sensor. On 06 writeup it appeared to be a small brown plug and I can't find any such plug on mine (under the throttle body area) I believe that may be the last thing holding it back.

All the sensors near the alternator are unplugged. I have a aftermarket inlet so I pulled that out first. Definitely gave me some extra space. I'm just gonna tug on it when it warms up again tomorrow.

The knock sensor is near the drivers side sensor for the air pump system. It is NOT under the throttle body. It is near where the block and tranny join.

if you think working on your car in 30 degree weather is cold, try changing a tire when its 2 degrees outside with a -25 windchill and in the snow

But goodluck bro hope you get this squared away

"I was ambitious, and for the first time ever, SUCCESSFUL!!!"

The intake manifold has been defeated...for now...until the reinstall.

A million wires and hoses that make the 07 engine unreasonably cluttered.

I also pulled out the secondary pump which helped to access plugs that would otherwise have been completely invisible. Damn you Subaru.
