Intake manifold removal sucks!

It's much harder than is seems. Trying to do it right now. Well taking a break at the moment, but been working on it and it doesn't help that my garage is in the low 30*'s. Trying to find the engine harness connectors on the bulkhead that i'm supposed to remove. Then I have to get to the spark plugs on the battery side. I have no idea how I did it before. Ugh. What a pain.

Why are you removing it? For a turbo inlet or tgv's or something?

I'm about ready to give up. I hate 07's. Why does it have to be so different than the previous years. Can't get the harness off the support from the passenger side strut tower. It's all loose. I've followed every instruction I can find and it still won't come off. It move around and lifts maybe half an inch but can't find what's hooked on. This sucks.

So it's either give up, miss my tuning appt tomorrow, or try to reassemble it and just sell the tgv deletes. Any help? suggestions? please.

Dan dont give up dude, reschedule your tune bro. Shoulda done this days ago prior to your tune unless it was a last minute thing.

Your gonna wanna make sure you replace the gaskets which im sure you are, as well as disable the CELs once you do finish it, or if your gonna just wait till the tune to do that also.

Its not that bad bro, but if you have the TGV Deletes. just take your time, do it right, and go in for the tune.

dude the engine harness unplugs. You do not have to pull anything off the strut tower. The engine harness connector should be around the battery/ air pump on driver's side, and around the ABS pump/ boost solenoid on the passenger side.

For me, the most difficult part is getting the manifold past the 90 degree bend in the coolant return line.

The CELs will not affect the operation of the car greatly. You will just lose cruise control on the way to the tuner

Thanks. Looks like i'm gonna have to reschedule, but as far as I can see, I can't even figure out why it's not coming out.

I unplugged the harness, but it is attached to a bracket attached to the strut tower. I can't remove it from this bracket.

It's an 07 btw, and for some reason everything has to be different from 02-06's.

Then consider cutting the strap, if it is one of the zip tie variety They usually have a couple tabs on the underside, and pressing one in will let you pull the strap through if that makes any sense. I may be thinking of something other than what you have though.

Keep in mind you do not have to pull the manifold off completely. Just far enough to slip the tumblers underneath with some gaskets.

It's a metal bracket. Taking off the bracket is not an option unfortunately. But it has some weird attachment that I can't figure out. Can't really look under it either because of its position. I'll try to get some pics. Glad I got a digi cam for christmas.

I definitely can't get it off far enough to remove the tgv's. I can lift it maybe 1/2".

Alright, I called it quits on the project for tonight. Garage temp has already dropped below 30* and it's just too damn difficult to work on these 07's. Gonna upload a pic of the harness part in a sec. Bummed I can't get tuned tomorrow.

Does anyone know if and where the harness plugs into on the driver's side? I can't find one on my 07, but the writeups for all other years clearly have some plugs.

Here's the harness connector that apparently replaces the two by the bcs on previous years. It's hooked to that metal bracket and I couldn't get it off the metal bracket.

That's not the big issue at the moment. Problem is that the manifold just plain won't come off. I don't have any idea what's holding it up anymore.
