upgrade your turbo to atleast a gt30r, you'll definitely hear it.
I've had the silencer out and put in (IIRC 3") PVC elbow (from home depot for like $2-3) into the fender for 5 years now. Not one problem.
I think this is the best thing, you retain the stock air box and is sucking air from the fender vs the hot engine bay or through stock air scoop thing.
