They issued these to us at work Streamlight. They're incredibly light and handy and also really super bright. I'm not sure how much they'll run you though.

I should also mention it's been dropped several times, spent some time in the submerged in water and been thrown at someone more than once. For such a cheap looking flashlight it's incredibly robust.

Thats what stopped me from buying it actually... it looked so damn cheap, but Ive read great things about it and I know firefighters are issued them. I also have a couple other streamlights for my pistols and they work GREAT!

Maybe I'll get one...

Compared to like a 3D cell maglight, how much brighter is it? Also, is the light white or blueish?

It's a bluish center with a white halo. Compared to a 3D maglite... I'd say it'd be like comparing a really high beam halogen to 9k HID. The maglite would have better reach, but the usable light diminishs at a constant rate, so at 5+ yards you're not getting all the light you could. With this LED light, you get really good visibility out to about 7-10 yards, then it falls off abruptly. I think part of that might have to do with the wavelengths of the blue light, as this is a two year old flashlight and I know that LED has advanced to a more "true" white since then.

Even if I hadn't gotten it for free, I'd buy another.

I had bought a couple of the Pelican flashlights, thinking they were pretty good. I mean, we use Pelican cases at work all the time, and they're really watertight and rugged. They're flashlight bodies are very rugged and watertight as well. However they use a really fine Xenon bulb that breaks if you look at it wrong. It's unfortunate because the Xenon bulb worked VERY well in murky water, for the five minutes it worked.

shelled out over $100 for a streamlight polystinger, in yellow a few years ago.

just dont like it's ni-cad (back then).

otherwise, it's my tac light and can temp blind you (i've done that me a few times...)

also bought a few flashlights as backups and stuff. but man, the polystinger is small and very handy and stays in the driver's side pocket door...

I haven't seen the others, but on the Surefire box, it has a warning: "Causes temporary blindness if shined directly into the eyes." It works as i've tested it on others.

It also has a cool attachment that has spiked edges around the light to be used as a weapon. I couldn't find a link to that attachment, but it's in the brochure
