the new build of BT came out a few months ago and majority of the clients switched over to the new code.
Besides a few bug fixes, one thing that was addressed was the throttling of bandwidth to people that are not enabling uploading on thier clients.
When the new clients came out, I did see a difference in speeds. Usualy what happens is that you need to upload for a bit, then your download speeds increase, or at least thats what it has been doing for me, and I use the G3 client

i'm using the V3.2.1 Experimental and it says on the bottom "Download rate is proportional to your upload rate" or something like that. But, even uploading @ 5k/s I can still d/l @ over 200

you have an old client. The latest release is 3.4.2
but since you are getting crazy good download speeds, but not sharring anything, I would not switch
why upload to people when you can just download like crazy.. stupid p2p
