When he first mentioned this to me, I did a bunch of research into code 139 (or whatever it's called... the barcode language)...
He can make it say whatever he wants and it will be scannable. As for whether or not a specific store can read it... It depends on if their scanners will read UPCs not programmed into their system. Sometimes it'll just come up as, "unknown item" or something.
