I'm going to smog my car

Welp, my car is at age when it needs to be check with some sticking something up it's ***.

My car has a chatted turbo back with ap gst tune. Is there a tune that I should go in with that will max my chances of passing?

Edit-vis. inspection is not an issue.

Just leave your tune in with your stock down pipe, it will pass the sniff test. Just make sure there are no visual things that are not legal or CEL's. You should be fine.

I know it will pass with the stock dp.... But I'm too lazy to change it out unless I have to... I.e if I fail the smog test the first time.

I would put the DP on, I don't think you will pass without it. I'd at least get a pre test if you're going to try without it. But that's just me. You can swap the DP in in less than a half hour.

If I remember correctly, they can't put you in the gross polluter catagory, it's like it doesn't count if you fail.

Say wah? If you fail you can't fix it and go back for another test?

Not sure how much our cars put out without the DP, but at least its just a 2 stage idle test which is less load on the engine than the smog 2 test. I'd just save yourself the hassel and put the DP on it.

My 02 passed with catted DP, cat back, and tune. Just be sure if recently cleared any CELs to drive about 50 miles before testing.

Oh, I didn't realize you had a catted DP, I'd try it. I was thinking you were cattless. My Maddad catted passed the sniffer. Was trying to figue out what a "chatted" turbo back was, lol.

if you have a good tune you dont need a "tune" to pass smog, if you have a tune that so rich you cant pass smog you need to retune lol. put the stock exhaust on the car and you will be fine!

with the amount of time you have probably checked this thread to find out if you could pass the smog test you could have changed your dp to stock and flashed back to stock. why take the chance? just do the changes for one day and change it back or change it back next weekend. theres not reason to deal with the hassle if you still have the stock DP. is an hour or two of work changing it and changing it back and forth worth the hassle of having to go back and forth to the smog test center and dealing with dmv or dealiong with multiple smog centers? do it once and be done
