pay off my condo, rent it out, pay off my student loan, buy/build a nice house with 4-car garage, then buy a nice car. Actually, I don't really know what car I would want to buy.

that scope on the SOCOM is there on purpose.

that is the SCOUT style, first made popular by jeff cooper.

the reason is that he wanted a light rifle where he can engage the target with both eyes open.

specs called for a short action, short barreled, lightweight rifle with compact sights and a synthetic stock.

if you read the JAN 2006 issue of AMERICAN RIFLEMAN (NRA's) magazine, there is a review of the new springfield SOCOM II and it tells the SCOUT rifle story.
