Yeah, my wife got caught Monday mid-morning near Burlingame going 80.

It was her first speeding ticket.

This is why cops are douche bags.

They say that even with people buzzing 280 at 80-100 MPH (and believe me, when I used to commute on 280, I was frequently blowing through at 100+ along with several other cars) the highway has fewer accidents than 101. There are darn near FOUR times as many accidents on 101 as on 280.

The stats seem to point towards RAISING the speed limit, not ticketing people for blowing through some idiotic arbitrary number.

I don't understand why law makers and enforcers have such a hard un for enforcing the letter of the law, even when overwhelming evidence points towards there NOT being a problem.

When I become king of the world, I'm going to remove the speed limit on 280 completely. Vote Xero, he's a Hero.

thanks for the heads up.

my opinion is that people do drive pretty fast on 280.

the removal of speed limits is an interesting idea. sure, there'll be more incidents and the chances of them being fatal will inevitably be higher. BUT, all the unskillful and insane drivers will most likely kill themselves...a simple process of elimination through evolutionary means.

But just to prove a point, by who?

There was an accident this morning, S280 @ Alpine Road/Portola Valley. The CHP halted all lanes of traffic to get the cars moved from the #1 lane over to the right shoulder.

Yeah, I wish all the 'bad' drivers would just get out of the way.

accident injury rate goes down pretty much every single year due to less crappy cars being on the road and more cars with better safety features. I loved 280, too.

I've lived my entire life around here and I'll tell you the worse place to speed on 280 is north bound before 92. There are always cops around there and southbound around edgewood-woodside road.

Second day I had my WRX I got a ticket at 280 and 92...he liked the car though.

yet ANOTHER reason to eliminate speed limits....all the crappy cars will wreck trying to maintain the "new" flow of traffic.

i'm just joking, btw. it is precariously funny picturing hoopties drifting around corners and shot springs bobbing on freeway undulations. that oughta wake you up on your commute!

Thanks for the tip. I still get passed doing 80-85mph by the stupidest things: pickups, minivans, beater, wagons, etc. Looks like it's gonna be 65 in Lane 3 for a while
