I would love to have Jimmy J. He is, or rater was, a great NFL coach.
Rumph is going to be good, just give him a little time...most rookie defenders suck.
Niners need to draft up a defense this offseason.

Rumph has a LOT of improvement to make.....but then, he wasn't supposed to play so much as a rookie.....
I think he'll be a baller eventually....he can sure tackle at least, even if he displayed some of the worst defensive back coverage technique I've ever seen in an NFL game....

the reason the niners db is so thin and lacking depth is because of the continued salary cap they have had in the past years.
i think teams now have to be very good at scouting and putting their $$ in the right places.
i still think defense wins championships... when was the last time niners had a bonified defensive stopper...
last time i can think of is Lott.

There is always next year. I am still sad, but the Niners were whipped so handly that they didn't deserve to advance. I am thinking that we may need a new QB...I don't know, I like old Jeffy boy, but he fails to impress me.

Tai Streets is light years ahead of JJ and always has been since entering the league. It was just unfortunate for him to begin his NFL career injured.
If I had the chance to make a few draft choices for the Niners this year, it'd be 70% Defense and 30%Offense (O-Line). I'd also trade JJ away for a few picks.
In regards to Rumph, this season was his welcome to the NFL. Hopefully he'll use this off season to work on tuning his skills and adjusting to the speed of the game. Next year will be a much better year for him...
