Is anyone heading out there Saturday morning? I'm looking for a ride. My car is in the shop and my team mate is meeting me there ( he lives down in Santa Barbara )

If you live in or are swinging by San Jose let me know!

First of all, this event was AWESOME!!! If you were on the fence, I'd say you should definitely make the journey next time as this is something that very few people can comprehend. Driving pretty much on the limit on amazing, EMPTY, roads through the night is SOOOOOO much fun.

Greg and Silke...where were you???

That's too bad. It was an unbelievably good time. I'm going to be catching up on sleep for the next few days though

absolutely amazing!

it was our first rally so it was just non stop intensity trying to figure out how everything works and keep on track to make to the checkpoints on time.

can't wait for the next one!

Actually we did get a call back from that phone number at some point yesterday. We didn't answer. The rally was tons of fun and i'm glad we brought the 7 series for our 3 person crew. That said, next time I'm doing it in my WRX and with ONE other person. As soon as my turn navigating ended we started missing turns and checkpoints and suddenly the maps were very confusing. I didn't really seem to have much problem with the maps but to be fair the second half of the rally was more difficult navigationally-speaking.

So for everyone who DIDN'T get to go... I have the maps for this rally and I think they should be shared. The roads that this route takes you through are just these fantastic iconic and beautiful California roads. I've definitely found some new favorite roads and I think they will be a million times more fun in my wagon.

If anyone is interested I think i will be plotting "great driving roads" into a big google maps collection, preferably with links to photos.

Funny how things seem to get more difficult at about 2AM isn't it?

As much as I like this idea, the reason you go on these events is to find these roads. It's like giving out the GPS coordinates for your favorite "secret" fishing hole Just food for thought.
