At certain rpms I can put my car into second without stepping on the clutch.

It's not the best idea. Perhaps a better solution would be to get your leg some coffee?

Usually I can get into 1 or 2 gears, but not all 5 + reverse.

From my limited knowledge of transmissions, I'm guessing that the synchros are close enough to allow you to get into gear on a couple of gears without having to release the transmission from the motor.

A WRX is probably a difficult car to learn a manual tranny. It's very hard to get a feel for the clutch. But after a little time behind the wheel it's like second nature.

Brakes are cheaper than a tranny.
